Where is the Holy Spirit leading us?
“Yet there is no greater freedom than that of allowing oneself to be guided by the Holy Spirit, renouncing the attempt to plan and control everything to the last detail, and instead letting him enlighten, guide and direct us, leading us wherever he wills. The Holy Spirit knows well what is needed in every time and place. This is what it means to be mysteriously fruitful!” (Evangelii Guadium 280)
What does the Holy Spirit do? He does something else which some may call division, but it is not. The Holy Spirit creates diversity in the church and the diversity is rich and beautiful. But then the Holy Spirit himself creates unity and so the church is one in diversity. It is a reconciled diversity by the Holy Spirit. He creates both a diversity of charisms and the harmony of charisms.
The International Meeting of Kairos is a project born in Bari (Italy), by the charism of the Community of Jesus (Bari), during the Great Jubilee year of 2000. It is based on three decades of ecumenical experience and is a taste of the new breath of the Holy Spirit in the relations between representatives of Chuches and Ecclesial Communities. It is spreading throughout many countries. This is the first year that the International Kairos Conference will be held outside Italy--being hosted this year by Alleluia Community in Augusta, Georgia (USA).
